Sale conditions of wood are specified by the regulation of Director – General of the Sate Forests.
Within the framework of the individual sale , the foresters try to meet the fast growing demand, because more and more people use wood in order to heat their houses. Contrary to general opinion, these are not only village people, even though they prevail among recipients. The growth of firewood demand is the result of occurrence of new housing estates built in the suburbs of large agglomerations, where houses are usually equipped in fireplace heating installations.
Firewood is not only the most ecological heat source, but also is much more attractive in respect of relation of price and electric efficiency, rather than cola, oil, gas or electric power.
In recent years, the Sate Forests increased the sale of firewood of one third – up to over 4 million cubic meters annually. Some of customers choose already prepared and cut into pieces wood, the others very willingly obtain it by themselves after arranging all details and fulfilling particular safety conditions, and after paying the fee; that concerns mainly so called "thinnings". Such a raw material is very cheap, that is why many people from village areas profit from such possibility.

Wzorem lat ubiegłych na terenie naszego Nadleśnictwa odbyły się organizowane przez Komendę Wojewódzką Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Katowicach ćwiczenia Jednostek Ratowniczo-Gaśniczych pod nazwą „LAS 2019”.
W dniu 22 maja 2019 r. o godz. 10.44 do JRG PSP Tarnowskie Góry wpłynęło zgłoszenie o pożarze lasu w dwóch oddziałach 451 i 453 na terenie Leśnictwa Strzybnica.
Na miejscu ćwiczeń został utworzony punkt informacji dla mediów, który wydawał komunikaty o bieżącej sytuacji. „Na miejscu pracuje 13 zastępów samochodów gaśniczych, 5 zastępów OSP, 8 zastępów PSP. Każdy oddział to około 2 ha. W oddziale 453 obecnie pożar jest opanowany. Ze strony nadleśnictwa dokonano dwóch zrzutów ze śmigłowca w ilości 400 l każdy. Do dyspozycji są dwa ciągniki z pługami i pilarze. W oddziale 451 dalej trwa gaszenie pożaru.”
Ćwiczenia zostały przeprowadzone na terenie leśnictwa Strzybnica, gdzie zostały zlokalizowane dwa ogniska pożaru. W ćwiczeniach wzięło udział kilkudziesięciu strażaków m.in. jednostki OSP Koty, OSP Połomia, OSP Potępa, OSP Wojska, OSP Strzybnica, OSP Tworóg, JRG Tarnowskie Góry, JRG Bytom, JRG Radzionków, JRG Piekary Śląskie, JRG Siemianowice Śląskie, KP PSP Tarnowskie Góry.
Celem ćwiczeń było zadysponowanie zastępów straży pożarnych, budowanie stanowisk wodnych, a także utrzymanie ciągłości podawania wody na duże odległości.
